Fit to Print

We're in the final week of the mainstage show I directed at the Curious Comedy Theater.
It's an old format that has been around as long as longform improv. Both the cast and shows have been great. I am extremely pleased with how it all has turned out. If you're in the Portland area and looking for some top notch entertainment, head over the the Curious Comedy Theater, grab a drink at the bar and laugh yourself stupid!

work bag

In the warehouse where I work (Kobos Coffee 2355 NW Vaughn Street, Portland OR) there are a few hundred bags of coffee beans, which get roasted on a daily basis. There has been one bundle of bags that catch my eye each time I'm back there, simply because it makes me laugh. I wonder what this bag of beans is in to.

2009 shorts

I have made a goal for myself to create a short film each month in 2009.
That will make 12 videos. I already made one, but had to take it down - so I've got two weeks to make another. Challenge!

McGoohan

Creator and star of the 1960's futuristic spy drama The Prisoner, Patrick McGoohan has passed away today. He was eighty years old.
If you haven't seen the Prisoner before, do yourself a favor and watch an episode or two.
Be Seeing You, number 6.
Thanks to Eric Lindberg for introducing me to this wonderful show oh so many years ago.

train

Sometimes you're gonna get hit by a train...

And some other times you can sit in your parked car and watch it come dangerously close to you.

Q and not U

A new 2009 mission - to make one favorite album post a month. I've done it before, so I'll try to post only certain special albums this time around. I figure I would start with one of the best DC post punk albums released in the 00's. Originally released on Dischord in late 2002, These three boys put together one heck of a sophomore album after losing their original bass player and forth member. Different Damage hit me at a perfect time in my life. I was looking for a little spastic freakout, slight political leaning punk with intricate and interesting sounds filling everything out. Between their first album and this one - they released a single for Soft Pyramids, which included a B-side... a different version of the second song on this album "So Many Animal Calls" called "Ten Thousand Animal Calls". I like both versions of the song (they're nowhere near the same song) so I decided to include the B-side to this album, giving it a strong stomper of an opener, as apposed to opening with Soft Pyramids. If you are unfamiliar with Q and not U, start with this powerhouse of an album - then go back and dive into the other two albums and few EP's. You won't be sorry you did.

2009

We are here in 2009. Things have kicked off very nicely. I've set some goals for myself that I am already on the road to accomplishing. The 2009 Curious Theater season began to a great start. We had New Years Day Cheap Date followed by the opening of our next mainstage show, Fit to Print. The house was great and the show was even better.

Portland has had two days of nonstop rain, but that hasn't stopped 2009 starting off well. We've had a couple days of sleeping in... and that's always a good way to begin the year/day.
