Thanksgiving recap

No pictures to post, sorry.
We had a late thanksgiving at the theater and invited all the orphans who were stuck in town without family. A lot of food was brought and shared. Games were played, movies were watched and good times were had. Thanks to everyone who was part of the first (possibly annual) Curious Thanksgiving Special!

My Thank Yous

Another Thanksgiving is upon us, my second in Portland. I've been away from Chicago for over a year. I think about it and miss it every once in a while, but I would never have accomplished half as much if I had stayed there. I am very grateful for all my friends and family in Chicago - and equally grateful for all my new friends and family here in Portland. (I don't have pictures of all of you) Thank you to all the friends working with us in the Curious Comedy Theater. Everyone has worked (and continues working) so hard on keeping the theater moving forward, keeping the shows hilarious and keeping us all happy. I couldn't imagine a better group of friends to associate with.
My Family
You guys are always there for me and I don't always have the time to tell you how much I appreciate you being there. Thanks for raising me right and always giving the best possible advice and help when you can.
These guys The two of you mean everything to me. I must be the luckiest jerk in the world to get to come home to both of you every night. Thank you for making my world the best place around.
Chicago Friends Thank you to all my zombie friends in Chicago. Thanks for all the inspiration and everything I've learned. Thank you for helping shape me into me. I wouldn't have it any other way. I miss and love all of you.

No News Is Good News

Not much to report. The first run of shows at the Curious Comedy Theater is over. We're happy with the show quality, but not the turn out of crowds, they were decent numbers, but we could have used more folks. We have our sites on January opening some amazing shows - and have holiday shows between now and then. Working part time and making no money, enjoying the company of great people and brainstorming some great ideas for the future of our theater. Things are good.

oh boy

Things have been pretty busy (as usual) - however I feel like we're pretty close to having a pattern in our day to day lives. Sure, it mainly revolves around the theater, which is nice... but there's a significant part dedicated to smushing this little guy.

We just started transitioning our sketch show (since a lot of our material was written pre-election) we have started writing and rehearsing/performing holiday material to put in. It's a fun process.
We also started directing two different holiday shows. By this time next week, we'll be ready for the merriment of the holidays!

my Butt

This was the commercial I was hired for that I was featured in. While the rest of the commercials has me in the background, the original idea for this one featured me.
The editing here is funny, but I'm no longer one of the two main featured actors... well I am, but not all of me...
Still, it's a funny commercial.

Walking around the Office

I brought Arlo into Stacey's office today because she has told everyone about him (it's impossible not to talk about the cutest mutt in the world). One of the two office dogs (Minnie) was in. She is a 6 month old Boston Terrier. 5 minutes after we arrived, Minnie grabbed the end of Arlo's leash and began to walk him around, almost as if she was giving him a clumsy little tour of the office. It couldn't have been cuter.

Obscurity

There's something about obscure bands that interest me. Whether they use weird instruments in unique ways, or they just stay out of the public eye - there's something I enjoy more from a band that is alright with being a little further out there than most.
Here's a collection of some of the more obscure bands I've been enjoying lately.

Obcurities Mixtape
01 Western Keys - gettin' sick
02 Pale Young Gentlemen - the crook of my good arm
03 Call Me Lightning - filthy information
04 Gotye - hearts a mess
05 Margot & the Nuclear So & So's - hello, vagina
06 Parenthetical Girls - song for ellie greenwich
07 Pilotdrift - dancing bear
08 Kay Kay & His Weathered Underground - hey momma
09 Moscow Olympics - second trace
10 the Make*Up - don't step on the children
11 the Tiny - in my back
12 Tom Daily - reese witherspoon
13 Shugo Tokumaru - clocca
14 Bombay Bicycle Club - evening/morning
15 the Radio Dept. - 1995
16 This Town Needs Guns - dog
17 the Bishops - will you ever come back again
18 Taken by Trees - lost and found
19 Get Well Soon - if this hat is missing I have gone hunting
20 Tom Heinl - I love

Holy Balls

My dad was cleaning out a closet and emailed me a picture from my past. One of my first stage performances, in High School
Dracula: the Musical! (That's right, Front Page of the Oak Forest / Midlothian STAR Newspaper!) yikes.

bam.

I've been saying it for a long time, but now it's taken another step.
Pink is the new Brown
Brown is the new Black
and now I'm glad this country is ready to start thinking ahead again. Isn't that what this country was made for/from in the first place?

Autumn Leaves

Autumn has fallen and with it comes the rainy season in Portland. Still, it's a pleasant rain. Talk to me in three or four months when I'm sick of it and I'll tell you a different story, but right now. I love it. and so does somebody else.

Tuesday

I have turned my vote in. Let's hope this country makes a wise decision.
