the Tuesday Mixtape

I'm starting something to motivate me to update more often. I'll put together the Tuesday Mixtape every week. It will collect all the stuff I've been listening to over the course of the week, both old and new. On a related note - I am loving the new Cursive album. I think they've done a great job getting back to form. Happy Hollow was a terrible record, but this one is on par with Domestica. Check it out if you're a fan of Cursive. Anyway, on to the mixtape:

Tuesday Mixtape Vol. 1
Public Image Ltd. - disappointed
These Are Powers - adam's turtle
Dr Octagon - general hospital
Modest Mouse - the waydown
the Invisible - monsters waltz
Mando Diao - high heels
Flight of the Conchords - I'm not crying
the Make*Up - is lies
Team B - tons of fun
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - dragon queen
Sad Day for Puppets - when the morning comes
Art Brut - dc comics and chocolate milkshakes
the Victorian English Gentlemens Club - a hundred years of the street
White Lies - farewell to the fairground
Grizzly Bear & Fiest - service bell
Cursive - let me up
the Juan MacLean - the station
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly - if I had $1 for every stale song title I'd be 30 short of getting out of this mess

the Invisible

Wow.
London Girl
The UK finally has their answer to Brooklyn's TV On The Radio... and they call themselves the Invisible. I've been listening to their album for a little over a day and I am enjoying it a bunch. It's self titled. Be on the lookout for this trio of experimental Brit Rockers.

springtime is the season

I'm ready to no longer be cold for the rest of the year. Over the course of the past week we have experienced every type of precipitation imaginable - most of the time in the same day. It hasn't gotten above fifty for a few weeks and I am done with it. I know it's nowhere near as bad here as it is in a lot of other places - and I should be happy with what I have... but I'm not, so shut up already.

click here to download-> Springtime for Hitler Mix '09 a mix of new stuff I've been listening to in the oh-nine:
Ketch Harbour Wolves - words
Free Blood - quick and painful
Mando Diao - high heels
the Pains of Being Pure at Heart - this love is fucking right
Art Brut - alcoholics unanimous
the Invisible - ok
the Victorian English Gentlemens Club - such a chore
Dirty Projectors & David Byrne - knotty pine
Cursive - donkeys
My Little Pony - skipping down the street
the Sound of Arrows - danger!
St Vincent - the strangers
the National - so far around the bend
Swan Lake - settle on your skin
These Are Powers - parallel shores
Cut Off Your Hands - turn cold
the Sea and Cake - new schools
Faded Paper Figures - polaroid solution
enjoy!

umm... really?

I like the guys in this commercial. I kind of find it hard to believe that this is a real thing. Thanks to my li'l sis Sarah for bringing this to my attention.

moved

It's been a long time without an update.
Stacey and I have moved from our nice, big (and expensive) duplex to a tiny one bedroom apartment 5 blocks away from our theater. The best part is - it will cut our living cost in half. We need to save all the money we can.
We're having a bit of a rough time with the theater. Our audiences have been very small.
So - we're doing our best to work that out.
We'll be living out of boxes for the next couple weeks - as we slowly unpack the new place. Arlo is happy and the three of us are, for the time being, enjoying living together in much closer quarters.
The sketch show ends this weekend - and we also are hosting the new CD Release party for
Captain Bogg & Salty - Portland's greatest pirate band.

Come out to the theater!
